Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 9:13PM Monophyly: A single shared genetic lineage containing an ancestor and all descendents.
Monday, May 17, 2010 at 2:24PM A group containing some, but not all, the genetic lineages from a common ancestor. Unlike polyphyly, in paraphyly the most recent common ancestor of all genetic lineages in the group is also a member of the group.
Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 9:50PM Polyphyly: A group defined by multiple genetic lineages where the last common ancestor to all members of the group is not a member of that group.
Friday, August 27, 2010 at 7:29PM Refering to population ranges that geographically overlap one another. Sympatric speciation occurs when two populations diverge into separate evolutionary lineages while occupying the same geographic space. Often in sympatric speciation populations are isolated not in space but in time, for example breeding at different times of the year.
