Sympatry

Refering to population ranges that geographically overlap one another. Sympatric speciation occurs when two populations diverge into separate evolutionary lineages while occupying the same geographic space. Often in sympatric speciation populations are isolated not in space but in time, for example breeding at different times of the year.
